Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth will check on a couple of players ahead of the Sky Bet League One match against Southend.

Ainsworth had made five changes for the midweek Carabao Cup defeat by Norwich, with Sam Saunders, Craig Mackail-Smith, Paris Cowan-Hall, Nick Freeman and Alex Samuel coming in.

The Wycombe boss confirmed some of the squad had picked up knocks against the Canaries, so he could again freshen up the team.Anthony Stewart, Adam El-Abd and Nathan Tyson all continue their recoveries.

Southend will have goalkeeper Mark Oxley available again after suspension. Winger Michael Kightly has also completed his own three-match ban, so will boost the options of Shrimpers boss Chris Powell.

Midfielder Dru Yearwood (hamstring) and winger Harry Bunn (foot) are stepping up their comebacks, along with defender Harry Lennon, who has been out with a a fractured toe. Centre-back Rob Kiernan, sidelined since August 2017, is set to start running again following his long-term knee problem.

This is the first meeting between Wycombe and Southend since their 2015 League Two play-off final, when Joe Pigott scored a 122nd minute equaliser in extra-time which led to a 7-6 victory for Southend on penalties.

Wycombe have won four of the seven encounters against Southend at Adams Park (D1 L2), winning each of the last two contests in August 2013 and December 2014.
