Wycombe v Swindon preview

Wycombe will welcome back midfielder Luke O'Nien for the Sky Bet League Two clash with promotion rivals Swindon.

O'Nien missed Saturday's game at Exeter through suspension following his dismissal in the dramatic win over Carlisle. Dan Scarr is doubtful after he was forced off after just 15 minutes against the Grecians with a hamstring injury so Nathan McGinley is likely to come into the heart of the defence.

Sam Saunders (knee) and Sido Jombati (knee) are getting closer to a first-team return but Anthony Stewart (calf) and Michael Harriman (broken leg) are definitely out.

Swindon captain Olly Lancashire faces a fitness test ahead of the game. Lancashire missed his first game of the season on Saturday against Mansfield after suffering an ankle injury.

Town boss David Flitcroft will also be without midfielder Kellan Gordon as he serves the second of a three-match ban for his sending off at Accrington. Amine Linganzi is still struggling with a hamstring problem and will not be fit in time.

Opta stats

This will be the third meeting between these two sides in all competitions; Swindon won both of the first two by a 1-0 score line, both in October (one league, one FL Trophy).

Wycombe have lost to the same opposition on three separate occasions in a single season just twice before as a Football League side (1999-2000 against Wigan Athletic and 2009-10 against Brighton and Hove Albion), whilst Swindon have beaten the same side on three separate occasions in one season without conceding a goal twice before as an EFL team (1986-87 against Fulham and 2011-12 against Barnet).

Prutton's prediction

Wycombe's winning run came to an end at Exeter on Saturday, but St James' Park is an incredibly difficult place to go and there's no doubt that Gareth Ainsworth will see it as a point gained rather than two lost.

Swindon will take Wycombe's place in the top three if they win on Tuesday night, but Wycombe are a formidable prospect at home and I think they'll have enough to claim the three points, especially with their new goal machine Marcus Bean!
