A goal from Jamal Fyfield in injury-time snatched York a 2-1 win against Hartlepool in a pre-season friendly at Bootham Crescent.
Colin Nish had the best chance of a poor first half on Saturday, opting to head the ball back across goal instead of testing the keeper. Pools made a raft of changes at the break, and substitute James Brown sent Antony Sweeney clear in the early stages but a York defender got back to block his effort. The home side took the lead when Ashley Chambers fired a free-kick into the top-right corner and York went on to enjoy a good spell of possession. But Hartlepool snatched an equaliser through Adam Boyd, who hooked in a Nolberto Solano throw at the near post. There was still time for City to grab a winner, with Fyfield scrambling home at the death.
