The Sky Sports Scholar has been named alongside Olympic silver medallist Lizzie Armitstead in the women's team for the elite road race and will hope to take her form from the junior circuit, in the past couple of years, into the seniors.
Garner is a double Junior World Road Race champion having taken gold in both 2011 and 2012 and will now pit herself against the very best at the senior event.
"I'm really excited to be selected for my first world champs," said Garner.
"I can't wait to ride for the senior elite team and in the GB national colours, there won't be a better feeling. I can't wait to get out there and play my part for the team."
The 18-year-old from Leicester races for the Dutch team Argos-Shimano and the call-up to the senior GB squad comes at the end of what is her first season as a senior professional.
Garner has impressed, recording her first win on the senior circuit earlier this year in China and now her performances have been rewarded with a place in Shane Sutton's squad.
The event begins on the 22nd September, just two days after Garner turns 19, and runs until the 29th.
