Snow Patrol dropped by Soccer AM to talk about their new album, writer's block and Dundee!
Frontman eases fans' fears
Snow Patrol frontman Gary Lightbody says fans should not be overly concerned by the new direction the band are taking.
Their much awaited sixth album, 'Fallen Empires', is set to be released in November and has been described as the next phase in their musical journey.
Heavily influenced by electro and dance, the album is believed to be a big departure from the boys' tried and tested formula.
However, Gary, who was joined by band mate Tom Simpson in the Soccer AM studios, told fans there's enough in the album to keep everyone happy.
"I guess it's a little more electronic this time," he told
Soccer AM.
"We've been meaning to do that for a while. When I met (Tom) he was a DJ - well he still is - and I used to go to his club all the time and dance silly on my own!
"And he introduced me to a whole range of other music, so it's not been indie music all this time. We've wanted to incorporate other sounds.
"It's still the same bunch of guys, so it's nothing terribly, terribly different. I think there's enough in the record to keep you all happy so don't even worry about it."
As ever Helen and max had lots more questions for the boys including...
- How did REM's Michael Stipe help with Gary's writer's block?
- How did Queens of the Stone Age's Troy Van Leeuwen get involved in their album.
- And why hasn't Gary paid Calvin Harris the £19 that he owes him!?
