Alan Tabern won the last three legs to defeat Gary Anderson 6-5 and take Group Three of the Championship League Darts.
Anderson lets two-leg lead slip in final of Group Three
Alan Tabern dramatically reeled off three legs in succession to defeat Gary Anderson 6-5 and secure victory in Group Three of the Championship League Darts.
The left-hander was in fine form throughout the tournament at Crondon Park GC in Essex, winning six of his seven games during the group stages.
He then comfortably saw off James Wade 6-2 in the last four before edging out Anderson in the final to claim £3,200 and a spot in the competition's Winners Group.
Tabern said: "I'm delighted to win and it's been a memorable day for me. Gary played really well in the final but in was determined to just hang in there and keep fighting away, and it paid off.
Relax
"I can relax and look forward to the Winners Group now. The Grand Slam is an extra incentive for me but I'll comeback in October and do my best."
Anderson's deciding-leg loss meant he claimed the runner-up spot for the second day in a row after being defeated by Simon Whitlock in the final of Group Two on Wednesday.
He had landed a 180 maximum at the start of the all-important final leg but Tabern responded well and hit double 10 to wrap up the win.
Anderson, who had defeated defending champion Colin Osborne in the last four, will return for Group Four on September 21.
