Miami Dolphins' Tyreek Hill has not requested a trade after indicating he wanted to leave the franchise in the wake of their failure to reach the NFL play-offs, says general manager Chris Grier.

Hill, who has missed out on the postseason for the first time in his career, did not play in the final quarter of the 32-20 defeat to the New York Jets in Week 18 after removing himself from the game.

The 30-year-old then told reporters: "For me, I just have to do what's best for me and my family. If that's here or wherever the case may be. I'm about to open up that door for myself ... I'm out.

"It was great playing here but at the end of the day, I have to do what's best for my career. I'm too much of a competitor to just be out there."

Speaking on Tuesday, Grier said Hill did not retract those comments but neither did he specifically ask for a move.

"We have had productive conversations but I will keep them between us. He never asked for a trade with me."

Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel added: "We met for, I want to say an hour, yesterday. I think I was very direct with him, he was very honest, and it was great terms that we were discussing

"We discussed multiple things including, without wavering, that it's not acceptable to leave the game and it won't be tolerated in the future. He embraced accountability.

"I wouldn't say there was anything necessarily to fix as much as we had to clear the air in a rough and tumultuous situation."

Hill still has two years remaining on the extension he originally signed in 2022.

The Georgia-born player recorded the worst season of his Dolphins spell in 2024, ending up with 959 yards and six touchdowns.

Against the Jets, he registered only two catches, his third game of the season with two or fewer catches.

This disappointing campaign is in stark contrast to his first two with the team, when he secured at least 1,700 yards and 119 catches in 2022 and 2023.
