Kayley Woollacott would not be afraid to send Lalor straight to the Cheltenham Festival without another run if the ground remains fast.

Woollacott is hoping to run her stable star in the Lightning Novices' Chase at Doncaster on January 26 as a prep race for the Arkle in March.

But if rain fails to materialise Woollacott would have no qualms about sending the seven-year-old straight to Prestbury Park, for which he is around a 5-1 chance.

"Lalor is in really good form, he's done some lovely pieces of work recently. He's ticking along, looks great and has been squealing and bucking every day," the trainer said in her Betway blog.

"We're really pleased with him at the moment.

"The plan is still the Lightning Novices' Chase at Doncaster at the end of the month, although we'll need some rain. As long as it's genuinely good ground, he'll be fine.

"If it's too quick, he'll go straight to Cheltenham, and I wouldn't be worried about the gap between races. He's always gone well fresh."

Woollacott could also send The Kings Writ to Cheltenham, but for Trials Day later this month.

She added: "We thought there was some mileage in his handicap mark, and he's now up another 7lb to 131. We're thinking about going to Cheltenham on Trials Day for the Grade Three (Cheltenham) handicap chase.
