Maximum Security’s owner Gary West has issued a $20m (£16m) challenge to the owners of four horses involved in his runner’s disqualification from the Kentucky Derby.
Country House was promoted to first place in the opening race of the US Triple Crown after Maximum Security interfered with War Of Will, Long Range Toddy and Bodexpress.
West has offered all four sets of connections a $5m (£4m) match bet which would apply the next time the horses meet Maximum Security, up until December 31.
Maximum Security was disqualified and placed 17th in the Kentucky Derby after veering off the rail on the final bend at Churchill Downs on May 4.
West and his wife Mary have since filed a lawsuit over the disqualification against the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission and stewards.
