Edinburgh Knight is to step back up in class in bet365 Lennox Stakes at Glorious Goodwood following his excellent effort in defeat at Ascot.
Paul d'Arcy's five-year-old found only Field Of Dream too good in the Betfair Summer Double International Handicap on Saturday.
With a Listed success already under his belt, Edinburgh Knight put up a decent performance at a higher level when runner-up to Libranno in the Group Three Criterion Stakes at Newmarket on his previous outing.
"I was delighted with the run, but disappointed to be beaten," Newmarket-based D'Arcy told At The Races.
"If he had been on the same side as the winner I think he would probably have beaten him. It was a cracking performance off that weight (9st 2lb).
"He runs in the Lennox Stakes at Goodwood next Tuesday, a Group Two.
"I think Libranno might be favourite and he just beat our horse in the Group Three Criterion at Newmarket.
"I think he'll definitely win a Group Three race. I'd like to get him placed in a Group Two and get him an invitation to Hong Kong at the end of the year. That would be the long-term plan."
