George Baker is to leave Whitsbury and lease the Barton yard which forms part of the Manton estate where Brian Meehan currently trains.
Meehan welcomes Baker to Manton
George Baker, the trainer, is set to leave his current base at Whitsbury in Hampshire and lease the Barton yard which is part of the Manton estate where Brian Meehan currently trains.
The two operations will be run independently from the 2,500 acre site from December.
Robert Sangster bought the estate in the 1980's and it is now run by his sons, Guy and Ben.

Meehan said: "I am pleased to welcome George and his team to Manton.
"It's a big place and it offers a lot in terms of facilities to a trainer.
Spare Capacity
"There is capacity for 200 horses and I do not have the numbers to fill them all, so it makes sense for there to be a second trainer.
"The Barton yard works very well as a self-contained unit.
"George and his team have done very well already to date and I'm sure he will add to Manton's success in the coming years."
Baker is excited by the move and is looking forward to the next phase of his career.
He said: "As a team we are very excited to be moving to one of the finest training yards in the country.
"Manton is steeped in horse racing history and it is a privilege to be joining the roll call of trainers who have been so successful there.
