Marcus Tregoning is eyeing the Royal Hunt Cup as a mid-season objective for Bronze Angel following his reappearance in the Betway Lincoln at Doncaster on Saturday.

The dual Cambridgeshire scorer performed respectively to finish 12th with top weight in the turf season curtain-raiser won by Gabrial, and could run in seven-furlong handicaps at Ascot and Newbury before stepping back up to a mile at the Royal meeting in June.

"He has taken the race well, but with a weight like that he's going to hopefully come down a few pounds to get competitive in a major one again," said the Whitsbury trainer.

"He's a very nice horse to have in the yard and he's going to win races for us as long as he's off the right mark. That's all it is.

"I've always said he takes a bit of time to get warmed up and it's a long season. The Victoria Cup is a possibility. It's dropping back in trip but I need to keep him racing. He could possibly go on to Newbury afterwards and then hopefully Royal Ascot. The Hunt Cup would be a race we'd think about for him."
