Wednesday Tips

Sea Sylph is Anita Chambers' best bet for Wednesday and he has a tip for every race at every meeting.

Sea Sylph can make a victorious handicap bow at Sandown.

William Haggas' charge has not finished out of the first two in three outings to date, registering her sole success when stepping up to 10 furlongs from a mile at Windsor in June.

Having just been touched off on her only juvenile start last year, it was no surprise to see this regally-bred filly get off the mark - although she had to defy her evident inexperience as she just drifted across the track slightly in the finish before eventually prevailing by a length.

Punters anticipated another novice success at Kempton on her next outing at the end of last month - but saddled with a penalty, she found the well-touted Chiasma too good, with the pair drawing clear in a duel over the last couple of furlongs.

Sea Sylph was tackling a mile and a half that day but just could not find the required extra in the closing stages. So it perhaps makes sense to switch back to her winning trip, with quick ground also a positive factor.

An initial mark of 83 is high enough, but she can still go well in the Surbiton Handicap.

Latest Racing Stories

Matamua has been thereabouts in each of her five career starts, but her time can come in the Addlestone Handicap.

She was sent off the evens favourite on her latest run at Lingfield earlier this month, but she never really looked like winning and was pipped for second on the line.

Simon and Ed Crisford had opted to switch back to seven furlongs on that occasion, following two previous attempts at an extended mile and it is possible the heavy ground took its toll that day.

Back on a sound surface and sticking to seven furlongs might result in that all-important win for this daughter of Lope De Vega.

Motawaajed can make it a double on the day for Haggas by landing the Free Football Tips Classified Stakes at Lingfield.

This Dark Angel gelding did not make it to the track as a juvenile, but he has made up for lost time by winning one of his three starts this term.

After showing a good deal of promise when fourth on his Newcastle debut in April, Motawaajed stepped up to notch a comfortable win at Wolverhampton, having seemingly improved from his debut to coast home by four and a quarter lengths.

There was plenty of confidence behind him on his latest run at Thirsk too, where he was sent off the 8-15 favourite for a novice event only to turn in a performance which was a shade disappointing in second.

He got a bump from the winner that day and did not help himself by racing keenly, but he was no match for King Triton, who was also in receipt of 7lb.

Motawaajed has a very handy pull in the weights under the conditions of this extended seven-furlong contest, though, and he should surely be able to take advantage.

Hester Prynne should appreciate dropping in company for the British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes at Catterick.

She won on her debut at Beverley and was not disgraced in the Hilary Needler Trophy back on the Westwood next time, before David O'Meara opted to step her up for a crack at Listed company at Newmarket.

Sent off an 80-1 shot, she finished last of 15 there - and this six-furlong contest looks a bit more her speed.

Newyorkstateofmind should relish quick ground at Bath, in the Visit Handicap.

He was an all-the-way winner last month over the same extended five furlongs he tackles here, and was only narrowly beaten at Lingfield in the interim.

The four-year-old is clearly in top form at present and can defy a career-high mark.
