Bigmartre (l) is expected to cope with the step up in class

Harry Whittington is feeling confident that Bigmartre can handle the step up in class for Saturday's Sky Bet Supreme Trial Novices' Hurdle at Haydock.

Registered as the Rossington Main, the Grade Two event carries £30,000 in prize money and has attracted 12 decent entries, including Paul Nicholls' La Prezien, who is two from three this season with his defeat coming behind Yanworth.

But Whittington is far from running scared of taking him on and issued a rallying cry.

"Bigmartre is in a seriously good place at the moment, I couldn't be any happier with him," he said.

"He's a course and distance winner and will absolutely love the ground. Bring it on.

"When we got to Haydock the last day, we were told the eventual second (Vintage Clouds) was seriously smart and we wouldn't beat it.

"Hopefully Gavin Sheehan will be able to ride him but if not, Nico De Boinville will step in."

Bigmartre is an 8/1 chance with race sponsors Sky Bet.
