Awtaad: Among the St James's Palace entries

The winners of the English, Irish and French Guineas remain on course to do battle in the St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Hugo Palmer's Galileo Gold, Kevin Prendergast's Awtaad and Aidan O'Brien's The Gurkha are all among the 15 six-day entries for the day one spectacular.

O'Brien also has four other possibles for the race; Air Vice Marshall, Bravery, Claudio Monteverdi and Long Island Sound.

Godolphin have a couple of entries with 2000 Guineas third Ribchester joined by Charlie Applebly's top juvenile Emotionless.

Blue De Vega is another Irish challenger while the French could be represented by Bolting.

Cymric, Ehtiraas, First Selection and Zonderland complete the 15.

Harry Herbert, racing advisor to Galileo Gold owners Al Shaqab Racing, said: "All racing fans are looking forward to the opening day of Royal Ascot.

"If everything goes to the St James's Palace Stakes sound and well, a cracking race will be in store and it is what the race is all about. It will be a proper championship race.

"He has the right to improve as he is only lightly raced but it will be a different race on better ground."
