Whisper: Won at Cheltenham and Aintree in the spring

Whisper makes his fencing debut in the Bathwick Tyres Beginners' Chase at Exeter on New Year's Day.

A gritty winner of the Coral Cup at Cheltenham in March, he stepped out of handicap company to land the Liverpool Hurdle at the Grand National meeting.

Nicky Henderson's inmate already figures prominently in the RSA Chase betting, despite having never jumped a fence in public.

Owner Dai Walters said: "I'm looking forward to it.

"None of Nicky's horses were that forward this year but Whisper is ready to go know.

"He made the leap from handicap company at Cheltenham to Grade Ones at Aintree, having won a Coral Cup and a Liverpool Hurdle.

"It's quite awkward to place these novice chasers. We're starting him off here and it looks the right place to do it.

"He stayed three miles last year but is starting off over nearly two and a half so, hopefully, that should be ideal.

"I think he should win if he jumps around.

"I spoke to Nicky this morning and he said he'd schooled this morning and everything had gone to plan.

"You can ask too much of these novices first time out and we were keen not to do that."
