Unaccompanied: Impressive winner of the Leopardstown opener

Unaccompanied: Impressive winner of the Leopardstown opener

Unaccompanied was a smooth winner of the Tote Jackpot Races 3 To 6 Spring Juvenile Hurdle at Leopardstown.

Dermot Weld's daughter of Danehill Dancer was always travelling strongly under Paul Townend and sauntered to the front approaching the final flight of hurdles.

Sailors Wan went in pursuit but was soon fighting a losing battle and the winner stretched clear to score well by three lengths.

Sky Bet were impressed and cut the winner to 8-1 from 14s for the JCB Triumph Hurdle.

Direct route

Weld said: "Unaccompanied will go straight for the Triumph Hurdle after that. She knows her job, loves jumping and there were lots of horses with plenty of form in today's race.

"It was probably a weak maiden hurdle she won the last day and if she didn't win today she would have gone back on the Flat.

"I said to Paul (Townend) to let her stride on early to see if she would stay. She is adaptable ground wise - she won on good to firm at Galway and handles soft ground very well."
