Verdict

Another wide-open contest but this might just be when Josephine Gordon delivers - if she hasn't already done so on Dream Castle in the opener. GYMNASTE, brought along with exemplary patience by John Gosden, was unlucky to encounter severe traffic problems when a Kempton runner-up the last day. An easy winner of a Chester maiden, the Shamardal filly inhabits a tempting handicap mark and is likely to make up into Listed or Group class. Similar comments apply to Queen of Time, impressive in landing two decent handicaps in the style of an improving filly capable of taking higher order. Henry Candy will have her primed for this task. US raider Con Te Partito boasts useful Listed form in her home country but is impossible to assess accurately. Suffice to say she must be taken seriously as a member of the Wesley Ward invasion party. On Her Toes ran a fine race at York in Listed company after a nine-month absence and rates a major player after enjoying a fine 2016, whilst the Godolphin pair of Really Special and Grecian Light are also of interest.
