Maunganui ran his best race last season on fast ground and performed a bit better on his return to action at Gowran when staying on over a mile. Pari Passu won over a mile on good to firm going at Thurles and stays this trip so has to be respected as has Deauville Society, who had been hurdling before gaining his first-ever success in a Clonmel claimer and remains on a lowly mark. Lizard Point doesn't win often but had ROYAL ADMIRAL (NAP) a neck behind when awarded a race at Gowran in August. The latter didn't run well at Leopardstown last week but probably found 1m4f too far on rain-softened ground and has a better chance here.
