Al Mubhir has undergone a breathing operation since winning on heavy going at Haydock in October and is preferred to stablemate Montassib, who was beaten by Wanees at the same track last autumn. The latter can go close but AWAAL ended last season with a victory in testing ground at Haydock on his handicap debut and return from a lay-off. Subsequently gelded, he has plenty of scope for further progress this year and can defy a hike in the weights. Cambridgeshire winner Majestic represents last year’s winning yard while Baradar won on a heavy surface over 7f here in November. Atrium got the better of Empirestateofmind over track and trip in September while the likes of Encourageable, Greatgadian and the veteran Safe Voyage could go well at bigger prices.
