In depth

Verdict

Joseph O'Brien has won this twice in the last three years and has two entries. Watch Guard showed some potential in bumpers but has been well beaten over hurdles while MELLIFEROUS makes a belated racecourse debut. The latter is related to seven winners including several smart performers and won't need to be special to make a successful start. Illusory has been steadily improving and didn't get the run of the race over the track and trip last month while Dream Round was placed a couple of times for Andrew Balding and will have come on for last month's run though is taking a big step-up in trip.
