Haalick ran a fine race in handicap company the last day under top-weight when a strong late charge was only narrowly denied. He's up to this standard but his lack of experience on soft ground is a concern. If handling the terrain he'll go close. SCRUTINEER, on the other hand, is not only tough and consistent but has achieved both wins on ground with soft in the description and the son of Intense Focus has been far from disgraced when placing in two Listed contests this term and another solid effort can be forthcoming. Raucous looked like making up into a very useful performer last season but went of the boil a little and was swept aside in the Free Handicap on reappearance. He may bounce back with Ryan Moore booked but the jury is out at the moment. Smuggler's Moon only won an ordinary Newbury maiden but Brian Meehan clearly feels he's worth his place at this level.
