In depth

Verdict

An interesting contest for a cracking prize. FORTUNE'S PEARL, a winner at Chepstow and Newmarket, ended his first campaign on a mark of 100 after running well enough in a Group 3 at HQ in September. He's handed the vote despite taking on several recent winners including Gronkowski, unbeaten on the all-weather after facile victories at Chelmsford and Newcastle. Court House is making rapid strides and was very impressive when landing the odds at Lingfield while Three Weeks beat a better-fancied rival in a three-runner affair at Newcastle and is on the upgrade. Bobby Biscuit's victory on this track could be given a boost by runner-up Lawn Ranger in the previous race while Ventura Knight won four of his 11 starts in his first season and should be straight enough to do himself justice.
