COMMUNIQUE is likely to get his own way out in front today and had no problem stepping up to 1m4f at Newbury last week. He’s always looked as though he’d cope with this grade and gets a chance to prove that theory now. Barsanti and Raheen House disappointed last time but both are proven at this level and should make their presence felt. That’s not the case with the fillies Maid To Remember and Cribbs Causeway, however, and they have a lot to find on these terms.
Barsanti (IRE) 9-5 (9-8) Held up in touch, ridden over 2f out, edged left and brief effort over 1f out, soon beaten, 4th of 5, 7 1/2l behind Desert Encounter (9-5) at Windsor 1m 3f lst stks (1) gd in Aug.
Raheen House (IRE) 5-1 (9-0) Tracked leader, closed 4f out, every chance and ridden 2f out, lost 2nd over 1f out, weakened final furlong, eased, 4th of 5, 10 1/4l behind Crystal Ocean (9-3) at Newbury 1m 4f Grp 3 stks (1) gf in May.
Cribbs Causeway (IRE) 66-1 (9-2) Tracked leaders, outpaced over 2f out, never a threat, 3rd of 4, 20 1/2l behind Enable (9-2) at Kempton 1m 4f Grp 3 stks (1) pol in Sep.
Maid To Remember 20-1 (9-6) Tracked leaders in 5th, pushed along and slightly hampered 2f out, weakened over 1f out, 10th of 12, 19 1/4l behind Pilaster (8-9) at Goodwood 1m 6f Grp 2 fll stks (1) gd in Aug.
Communique (IRE) 9-2 (9-5) Keen tracking leaders, 2nd 5f out, led inside final 3f, came clear final 2f, ridden over 1f out, stayed on strongly, won at Newbury 1m 4f hcp (2) gs in Sep beating Not So Sleepy (9-6) by 1 3/4l, 8 ran.
