Verdict
Richard Hannon appears to hold the key to this Listed affair, saddling two of the main protagonists in Cake and Presto Levanter, with Loch Jipp another to consider, and we side with Richard Hughes' mount Presto Levanter. Loch Jipp carries a penalty for her Listed success in the Hilary Needler trophy at Beverley, where she sprang a 20-1 surprise. That success came on fast ground though, and she failed to reproduce that form on a softer surface at Royal Ascot. Conceding weight on slower ground than she prefers may prove too difficult. After wins at Lingfield and Salisbury, Cake has suffered two defeats since but is yet to run a bad race. She went down by just over a length in the Queen Mary, although her ability to handle a softer surface has to be taken on trust. After chasing home Cake, going down by only a length, Presto Levanter was a disappointment at York, before leaving that form well behind with a comfortable win at Sandown. Although that didnt look the strongest of contests, the going was similar to what she encounters here, and the victory will have boosted her confidence. The Hannon-Hughes combination is going well just now, and Presto Levanter can produce too much magic for her rivals.
