In depth

Verdict

It will be interesting if Drom is asked to take his chance as at the time of writing he's scheduled to contest the hunter chase on Thursday evening at Wetherby. The old boy has been in great heart and shouldn't be discounted if showing up. However, CURRENT EVENT has been one of the hunter chase success stories of the past year and remains in tremendous form, A smooth winning effort at Cheltenham was followed by success in a handicap at Newton Abbot where Rose Laxton's charge conceded lumps of weight all round but still came home with plenty in hand. He sets a strong standard. Bound For Glory has to enter calculations following his creditable fifth in the Aintree Foxhunters behind On The Fringe but His Excellency, a recent winner between the flags looks the main threat if repeating the best of his form when with David Pipe. Berties Dream and What A Laugh have also been in very good form in the point-to-point sphere and it will be interesting to see how they perform under Rules.
