Verdict

Love returns to the scene of her Yorkshire Oaks success which followed superb victories in the 1000 Guineas and Oaks. She looked as good as ever in the Prince Of Wales's Stakes on her reappearance but was a bit below par in the King George at Ascot when only third behind Adayar and MISHRIFF. The latter had a brilliant campaign in Dubai at the beginning of the year and probably just needed the run in the Eclipse before his superb effort in attempting to concede the Derby winner 11lb at Ascot. The Irish 2000 Guineas winner Mac Swiney should be more at home over this trip than the Derby trips at Epsom and the Curragh but Mohaafeth will need to raise his game after being beaten when odds-on in the Sky Bet York Stakes. Sussex Stakes winner Alcohol Free steps up to this trip for the first time but was by no means stopping at Goodwood.
