Giants youngster sidelined with ankle injury

Huddersfield centre Michael Lawrence has sustained ankle ligament damage that has ruled him out for between four and five weeks. The 19-year-old was thought to have suffered a serious injury when he limped off five minutes into Giants' 26-20 victory against Leeds on Sunday. Although scans have now confirmed that the bone is not broken, Lawrence will be sidelined for at least a month. "There is no fracture but it is a bad sprain and it will be four or five weeks before he is likely to return," said a club spokesman. Paul Whatuira, who missed the Rhinos game due to a hamstring injury, is expected to replace Lawrence for the Giants' trip to Harlequins on Saturday. Nathan Brown's side currently sit in third place in the table after recording only their second win over Leeds in the Super League era.
