Exeter back-row Dave Ewers and centre Max Bodilly have signed a contract extension with the Aviva Premiership champions.

The two-year deal will tie both homegrown players to the Chiefs until at least 2020.

"We often talk about creating those strong links with the local community, and decisions like this are the way to do that." Exeter rugby director Rob Baxter said.

"People who come to Sandy Park at a weekend for a game, they want to see these local guys performing and playing well."

Ewers has played 76 matches since coming through the academy ranks in 2011 but the 27-year old flanker missed out of the Twickenham showpiece final last season after suffering a series of injuries.

Like Ewers, Bodilly has also been side-lined due to injuries, having only made one start this campaign.

Baxter said: "It's up to those players to go out and prove they deserve to be here and that they have the qualities to succeed and help take the club on to that next level.
