Wales flanker Jones handed ban
Llanelli and Wales flanker Dafydd Jones has been suspended for three weeks for stamping.
Wales flanker Dafydd Jones has been handed a three-week ban for stamping on Ulster's Matt McCullough, meaning he misses the Six Nations games against England and Scotland.Jones was sent off during Llanelli's Celtic League defeat against Ulster last Friday, and has been banned until February 20 by a Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) disciplinary committee.
The decision is a blow to Wales coach Mike Ruddock, who had been set to include Jones on the bench for the Six Nations opener against England at Twickenham this Saturday.
The WRU judgement read: "The sub-committee determined the case against the player for stamping was proved.
"The sub-committee accepted the player did not make contact with the opposition player's head, but did make contact with that player's upper arm and body.
"The sub-committee determined that the offence was at the lower end of the published IRB scale of sanctions."
Jones' suspension means Llanelli colleague Alix Popham has been promoted to the Wales bench for the clash with England.
