Fijian centre arrives at Headingley on one-year deal

Leeds Carnegie have moved to bolster their injury-ravaged squad by signing Fijian centre Apolosi Satala on a one-year deal. Satala, who has represented his country at Sevens and full international level, earns his chance at Headingley having impressed while playing for the club's second string. The 29-year-old is currently serving with The Royal Scots regiment in the Army, and was recommended to Leeds by Major Howard Graham, the British Army's Sevens coach. And with 12 players unavailable for the clash with Newcastle on Friday, Satala's arrival comes just in time for Leeds.

Delighted

Director of rugby Stuart Lancaster told the club's official site: "I am delighted we have reached an agreement with the Army and thank then for their flexibility in allowing Appo this opportunity. "Appo has settled in well into the club and is getting up to speed with the game plan and structures we have in place at the club. "I am sure he will take his opportunity when it presents itself and will be an excellent addition to the squad giving us more options in the centre and on the wing."
