Sky Academy Sports Scholars Jessica Judd and Quillan Isidore lit up different parts of southern Europe at the weekend with impressive displays.
Judd, the 21-year-old runner from Essex, continued her fine efforts in the winter mud as she surpassed all expectations at the European Cross Country Championships in Italy on Sunday.
The 1500m athlete was delighted to have even qualified for the prestigious race in Chia and produced a gusty performance to finish 12th and help steer the British team to glory.
"I was the fourth British scorer and we won which was amazing," Judd said.
"The course was hard with the obstacles on each lap and I found racing 6k tough. The pace kept increasing and then slowing down and when the break was made I just didn't have the legs to go with it.
"The mounds on the course really took it out of me. I had a solid run though and was so happy to be up running with some talented girls. I'm really happy with how I ran and happier that I've still got things to work on."
It was the perfect way to wrap up the winter phase of her season and she can now look forward to applying her skills back on the track and help erase some of the painful summer memories.
There was also another fine show on two wheels from Isidore who was in Saint Etienne for the Indoor BMX Championships.
Isidore, back in the winning enclosure at the Manchester championships five weeks ago, said: "I thoroughly enjoyed racing this weekend. It was a great track and the atmosphere was amazing.
"This race wasn't about the result, but to deliver what I've been working on in training in a race scenario.
"That box was ticked so I'm very pleased. I exited the semi-finals on both days racing. It's a great platform to build on."
