Murray beat Djokovic 6-3 6-3 to claim revenge for a defeat in the Madrid final last weekend and end a streak of four successive defeats against the world No 1.
It was also Murray's first win over Djokovic on a clay surface and it was done in some style, as he stretched every sinew to put away the game's leading player.
