Andy Murray may be out, but brother Jamie could ensure US Open glory for Great Britain if he and John Peers can win the men's doubles final on the penultimate day of the tournament.

Murray and Peers face the French pair of Nicolas Mahut and Pierre-Hugues Herbert in the opening match on Arthur Ashe ahead of the women's singles final that no-one could have predicted.

Murray and Australian Peers are contesting their second consecutive Grand Slam final after losing out in the Wimbledon final two months ago. Herbert and Mahut are Grand Slam finalists themselves this year, having reached the final of the Australian Open in January.

Once the men's doubles is done history will be made at Flushing Meadows as the first all-Italian Grand Slam final of the Open era takes place between Flavia Pennetta and Roberta Vinci. The match has created such a stir that Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi has cancelled his schedule and flown to New York to attend.
