Tommy Robredo eased into the second round of the Swedish Open after beating Poland's Michal Przysiezny in straight sets. The Spaniard, seeded fifth for the clay-court event, prevailed 7-6 (7-3) 6-3 in 80 minutes after rain had delayed the start of the match. Robredo is seeking a third title and will face Kazakhstan's Andrey Golubev in the next round after he comfortably beat Maximo Gonzalez of Argentina 6-3 6-2. Uruguay's Pablo Cuevas, ranked 64th, also advanced by beating sixth-seeded Paul-Henri Mathieu of France 7-6 (7-2) 7-6 (7-3) on centre court. Seventh seed Denis Istomin also crashed out, the Uzbekistani, who hit seven aces, was dispatched 7-6 (7-5) 7-6 (9-7) by Croatian qualifier Franco Skugor.
