The scout reports...
Already compared to Wesley Sneijder, Adam Maher is being tipped as one of Holland's next big things.
The 18-year-old, who has Moroccan parentage, has emerged as one of the Eredivisie's top performers this season with AZ Alkmaar.
Maher is a product of AZ's youth academy having joined them from his local youth side aged just 11.
Maher is technically top-class, as you would expect from a player coming through any youth system in Holland - but he is already a step above.
His passing is top-class, comfortable in possession he very rarely gives away the ball.
He is already attracting interest from Barcelona, AC Milan, Manchester City and Lyon - highlighting his progress in the last 12 months.
Maher actually only made his debut for AZ in December 2010, but within that small period has already become a key member of Gertjan Verbeek's squad.
Holland are also battling with Morocco to make sure he remains committed to the Oranje, but his father has confirmed that he looks set to stay loyal with the Dutch - who he has played for at Under-21 level.
The scout says...
Technically a wonderfully gifted player, whose passing is already world-class.
It now remains to be seen whether AZ will be able to keep hold of Maher beyond next summer, given his progress - it looks unlikely.
