Floyd Mayweather has asked to meet Leicester City when he visits the UK on a three-date tour.

Mayweather hung up his gloves after matching Rocky Marciano's unblemished 49-0 professional record in September 2015.

The former pound-for-pound king is due to visit Leicester, Liverpool and London next month when he will be interviewed on stage by Sky Sports' Johnny Nelson.

Promoter Shane Whitfield revealed 'Money' wants to meet with the Premier League champions when he kicks off his tour at the Leicester Athena on March 2.

"I spoke to Mayweather's representatives recently and Floyd has told them he wants to meet the Leicester City team," said Whitfield of Kong Events.

"City winning the Premier League really was worldwide news and I'm hoping the players can make it."

Whitfield, who has previously promoted similar events with ring legends Mike Tyson, Roberto Duran, Nigel Benn, Ricky Hatton and Joe Calzaghe, believes fight fans have not seen the last of Mayweather.

"Floyd has already made history and now he's one fight from being an immortal," he added.

"I wouldn't be surprised if he announces he's fighting again in September - or maybe next May."
