WBA, IBF and WBC champion Gennady Golovkin has regularly been mentioned by Eubank Jr as a future foe, as well as current IBF super-middleweight champion James DeGale, but Blackwell has laughed off such lofty claims.

Blackwell exclusively told Sky Sports: "He's been talking about Golovkin and he had the chance to fight Danny Jacobs and Billy-Joe Saunders. So he's been talking about all these fights, but he wants a fight for the British title.

"He's still young, he's 26, so maybe he wants to win the British title outright. But don't go calling out world champions when you're fighting for the British title, you know?"

Blackwell was forced to retire having spent a week in an induced coma earlier this year, in the immediate aftermath of losing his British title to Eubank Jr.
