Joshua vs Breazeale: Dillian Whyte to face replacement opponent
Tuesday 21 June 2016 15:00, UK
Dillian Whyte has sent out a brutal warning ahead of Saturday night's fight with replacement opponent Ivica Bacurin.
The Brixton heavyweight has shrugged off the withdrawals of two previous rivals ahead of his appearance on the Anthony Joshua-Dominic Breazeale undercard at The O2, live on Sky Sports Box Office.
Whyte, who is making his comeback from shoulder surgery, was originally scheduled to face French champion Cyril Leonet, who pulled out earlier this month, while American Danny Batchelder was mentioned and dismissed as a potential opponent in the space of 48 hours.
Croat Bacurin has since been confirmed as this weekend's opponent after Whyte called for someone to share the ring with him this weekend.
"I will fight anyone @EddieHearn just get somebody for me to hit in the face this Saturday," tweeted Whyte as he prepares for his first bout since a knockout defeat to Joshua in December.
Bacurin (24-9-1) displayed his appetite for battle in last year's fight with Tony Bellew as he climbed off the canvas three times before being halted in the 10th round.
The 33-year-old also extended world title challenger Francesco Pianeta to 12 rounds in a points defeat and has 14 stoppages in his 24 victories.
Watch Joshua vs Breazeale live on Sky Sports Box Office, from The O2, on June 25, including Eubank Jr vs Doran, Groves vs Murray, Conor Benn and Dillian Whyte. Book the event via your Sky remote or online here.
