Amir Khan is no longer top of Manny Pacquiao's comeback list.

The friends and former gym-mates have been in talks about facing each other early next year once Pac-Man's shoulder injury has healed.

But Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum has now revealed that Lucas Matthysse has moved up in the pecking order, even though he is fighting Freddie Roach-trained Viktor Postol on Saturday night.

There's certainly been discussions with him but I wouldn't say he's the front-runner.

"There's certainly been discussions with him [Khan] but I wouldn't say he's the front-runner," Arum told boxingscene.com.

"He's [Matthysse] an exciting guy and he's gotten a lot of exposure and he would assure everybody that it would be a very exciting match.

"We would do it at a 144-pound catchweight. Manny's not a true welterweight."

Khan (31-3-KO19) has said he is prepared to face British rival Kell Brook next year - if he 'steps up his game' and fights big-named opponents like Timothy Bradley and Marcos Maidana once he has defended his IBF welterweight title against Diego Chaves in Sheffield on October 24.

Khan has also claimed he would happily take a rematch with Danny Garcia, who stopped him in four rounds in 2012.

Floyd Mayweather's retirement will leave the WBC title vacant with Khan and Garcia ranked one and two by the governing body.
