Tyson Fury is training with different gloves ahead of facing world champion Wladimir Klitschko on Saturday, trainer Peter Fury has revealed.

The challenger (24-0-KO18) arrived in Dusseldorf on Monday and was quickly to work on the pads - but his coach and uncle Peter then told Sky Sports Fury's thumbs had been damaged by faulty gloves.

He said: "He's trained once this morning already and then we had a walk in the park. He then did 15-20 minutes on the pads. It's about keeping him on the edge all the time.

"There was an issue with the gloves at first. Every time he threw a punch he was connecting with the thumb, and it was pulling his thumb back, causing him to have to go the doctors with an injured thumb.

"Now, they've sent the correct gloves for him and they're fine so as of now, I don't think there's any issue with the gloves. They've rectified it and we're happy with the correct gloves.

"He's excited, happy and in the shape of his life. He's peaking at the right time now and you can see that from the big smiley face.

"He's just a normal person. He loves to fight and this is a big occasion for him. He revels in it and this is what Tyson Fury is happy with. We're all excited to be here and we can't wait to get it on now."
