Dereck Chisora has warned Anthony Joshua he's not experienced enough to beat him to the vacant European heavyweight title.

With Robert Helenius vacating the belt rather than face him, Chisora (25-5-KO17) is looking for an opponent and talks between his promoter Kalle Sauerland and Joshua's team are underway.

But despite Joshua (15-0-KO15) holding the British and Commonwealth crowns, Chisora is adamant that he knows too much for his fellow Londoner.

When asked if he would put Joshua in with him, 'Del Boy' told Sky Sports: "No I would not. The guy is still learning the trade and the craft. He said it himself after fighting Dillian Whyte that he still has loads to learn. He's right.

"He's not fooling anybody. He knows he needs to learn the tricks of boxing. It's great that it's coming from himself that he needs more experience. He does need more experience.

Me fighting Joshua doesn't put me on the map. If I win, they're going to say that I beat a novice. It doesn't build a platform for me.

"Me fighting Joshua doesn't put me on the map. If I win, they're going to say that I beat a novice. It doesn't build a platform for me. I'm the mandatory challenger so we'll see what happens.

"The situation is that he [Helenius] has vacated. I don't know why. He says he's going for a world title fight but we'll have to see what happens in the next couple of weeks.

Anthony Joshua claims he learned lots in his clash with Dillian Whyte

"It's a great fight on paper but it depends on the other side if they want the fight. There's no point him fighting for European if he can defend the British and Commonwealth title against David Price."

Chisora fought three times in the space of five weeks over the New Year; recording early stoppages over Peter Erdos, Jakov Gospic and Andras Csomor.
