Boxing legend Muhammad Ali has been hospitalised for a respiratory issue, a family spokesman said on Thursday.
The 74-year-old former heavyweight world champion, who suffers from Parkinson's disease, was in a "fair condition", according to a statement from Bob Gunnell.
"A brief hospital stay is expected," Gunnell said. "At this time, the Muhammad Ali family respectfully requests privacy."
The three-time heavyweight champion, who retired from the ring in 1981 after a defeat to Trevor Berbick, has been hospitalised multiple times in recent years.
He was admitted in December 2014 with what was believed to be a mild case of pneumonia.
Doctors later determined he was actually suffering from a severe urinary tract infection, for which he received further treatment in hospital in January 2015.
In recent years, he has kept a low profile and his last public appearance was in April at the 'Celebrity Fight Night' gala in Arizona, a charity that benefits the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center.
