David Allen is confident he will stop Dillian Whyte in the later rounds this Saturday

David Allen will have Junior Witter in his corner when he takes on Dillian Whyte in Leeds on Saturday.

Allen (9-0-1 KO6) has been desperate for a fight with Whyte for a while and the 'White Rhino' finally got his wish after months of heated exchanges over social media.

The Doncaster fighter is usually trained by Dominic Ingle, but with Ingle away preparing Kell Brook for his September mega fight with Gennady Golovkin, Witter has come to the fore.

Witter had an outstanding career which took him all the way to world title glory and he will now hope to pass on some of his vast knowledge to the fledgling heavyweight.

Allen told Sky Sports News HQ: "With Dominic Ingle away with Kell, Junior Witter has come in and has been a massive help. He took over the job and it is like nothing has changed.

"Preparation and sparring has all gone perfect and I'm well up for this fight. I took the fight on short notice because I was working away in the gym anyway, knowing this opportunity would come.

"I lived in Leeds for three years and this is the first time I've come back since. I feel like I've finally arrived on the big stage and I am ready to be in the mix with all the big names. Whyte will come unstuck once I take him into deep water and then I will get the late stoppage."

Witter is also confident that his fellow Yorkshireman can get the job done. "David is in brilliant shape and I've been surprised by how good his engine is - for a heavyweight his work rate is phenomenal," he said.

"He has a good attitude and always wants to learn and improve. David will be a champion, he knows what he needs to do."
