David Haye has insisted he will win the second world heavyweight championship of his career within the next year.

The Londoner won the WBA belt from Nikolai Valuev seven years ago in the standout moment of his 30-fight career, adding it to the unified world cruiserweight title he previously collected.

Haye is two victories into a comeback from a four-year hiatus from the ring and is targeting the scalp of either IBF champion Anthony Joshua or WBO and WBA 'Super' champion Tyson Fury.

I believe within a year I'll have a version of a title.

"I believe within a year I'll have a version of a title," he told Vauxhall.

"Whether that's from Anthony Joshua, the winner of Fury and Wladimir Klitschko after their rematch, or Deontay Wilder. I'm focusing more on the British side of things.

"Lennox Lewis was the only champion we had at the time, same with Frank Bruno. Now you've got two champions and possibly three if I can get a world title fight. It's a situation that's never happened before."

Shannon Briggs continues to pursue David Haye...

Haye has swiftly dispatched Mark de Mori and Arnold Gjergjaj in 2016 since announcing his return to action, earning the No 6 spot in the WBA rankings, and is plotting his next outing.

Shannon Briggs was likeliest to oppose Haye, but a fight with the veteran American is yet to be confirmed.

"I'm working on this next fight - I want it to be a substantial fight that will get people excited," Haye said. "It's a good time to be in the heavyweight division in the UK."
