Conor Benn said his Dad Nigel has warned him against repeating errors

Conor Benn says he's "more respectful" than his legendary father Nigel - but only due to the influence of 'The Dark Destroyer.'

By his own admission, former two-weight world champion Nigel Benn led a wild lifestyle out of the ring and now son Conor - known simply as 'The Destroyer' - is determined to stick to lessons learned from cautionary tales.

Benn, who fights Silvije Kebet on the undercard of Gennady Golovkin v Kell Brook - live on Sky Sports Box Office on Saturday night - told Sky Sports: "I'm aware of a few [of the things he did] and I plan on going down a different route.

"He tells me about his mistakes and I know the pitfalls. He's raised me differently and raised me well.

"I'm a bit more tamed, well-mannered and respectful than my dad was. I know every choice I make I feel like he's there. Then I remember that's just how I've been raised.

I want to go out there and spend lots of money living a crazy life but I know not to. I don't need my dad there holding my hand.

"I want to go out there and spend lots of money living a crazy life but I know not to. I don't need my dad there holding my hand - I know right from wrong. I will make wrong choices but I know he's there if I need a shoulder to lean on.

"Every three days, I talk to him and catch up. He asks me how I got my blue tick and I tell him he's old news! We have that banter and we have a properly good relationship."
