Dominic Ingle has returned fire at Chris Eubank Jr over the decision to retire Kell Brook from his title clash with Gennady Golovkin.

Eubank Jr took to social media in the wake of Ingle throwing in the towel in the fifth to offer Golovkin a bout and state that his corner "doesn't own towels."

Ingle has swiftly hit back, telling talkSPORT: "When Chris Eubank Jnr boxed Billy Joe Saunders, the first five rounds were a non-event. That wasn't fighting.

"So it is no good Eubank Jnr talking about fighting to the death. For the first five rounds against Billy Joe Saunders, he stood and looked at the guy and lost the fight. That is the simple answer.

"I've had 30 years' experience in boxing. I have been in hundreds of title fights, I have got plenty of knowledge and I have seen the worst-case scenarios.

"It is just ironic that Chris Eubank and his father were both in fights where fighters were critically injured. It just shows their ignorance.

"Fighters will always fight to the death. Sometimes that is their undoing. It is down to the trainer with responsibility to realise sometimes you have to live to fight another day."
