Former world title challenger Patrick Hyland has announced his retirement from professional boxing.
The 33-year-old (31-3-0) has hung up his gloves after suffering back-to-back stoppage defeats earlier this year.
Hyland's bid to win the WBC featherweight title was ended in two rounds by Gary Russell Jnr in April and he was then stopped in nine by Josh Warrington in his last fight in July.
The Dubliner previously lost to Dominican Javier Fortuna when he challenged for the WBA interim crown in 2012.
"After 24 years in boxing and 12 years to the day [since] I made my professional debut, the time seems right to announce my retirement from the sport I've loved my whole life," Hyland said in a statement posted on Twitter.
"There are so many people who have helped me on my journey, first and foremost of course is my Dad. I owe everything to him, from day one he showed me everything I know and the last year has been so hard without him since he passed."
Watch Crolla v Linares, live on Sky Sports 2 this Saturday from 7.30pm.
