Dillian Whyte and Ian Lewison seemed ready to bring forward their scheduled British heavyweight title clash at the opening press conference.

Security jumped in when the two south Londoners stood up to confront each other ahead of their bout on the undercard of Ricky Burns v Kiryl Relikh in Glasgow on October 7.

Prior to the flashpoint, the former training partners had been exchanging insults.

Whyte (18-1-KO14) said: "The fight's going to be a good fight. Me and him are going to go at it. I want to beat him up. I really want to beat him up because he just talks rubbish.

Whyte will take on fellow Londoner Lewison for the British heavyweight belt in Glasgow on October 7

"I've always known in my heart that one day I'd have to fight him. When we used to train back in the day I used to look at him and think: 'One of these days, you fat *****, I'm going to smash your head in.'

"That day has come and we are just 11 days away. It's not long until I get to tuck him in. Your team knows what time it is.

"You're going to come out, trying to swing but what's going to happen when I'm still there laughing at you? How much do you weigh at the minute? They'll need a crane to pick you up after I knock you out."

Lewison is confident of beating Whyte

He said: "Eddie. Where is the screen with the subtitles? I'm still trying to work out what this man is talking about. This man speaks like he was home-schooled by a goat.

"His problem is that he's mistaken popularity for accomplishments. This man is delusional."

Tempers flared when Whyte mentioned Lewison's address, took off his watch and stood up - prompting his rival to do the same and members of both entourages to join bouncers in intervening.
