Promoter Kalle Sauerland thinks that all the factors are in place for a great light-heavyweight world title fight between Juergen Braehmer and Nathan Cleverly.
Sauerland-promoted Braehmer (48-2-KO35) will defend his WBA world title against Wales' Cleverly (29-3-KO15) in Germany, live on Sky Sports this Saturday, five years after the pair were originally scheduled to meet.
On that occasion, the German withdrew at the last minute, leaving 'Clev' to compete and win the vacant WBO title. There have been mooted talks of a fight ever since and Sauerland is pleased to finally have it scheduled.
"I'm delighted to finally be able to stage this fight as it has been a long time in the works," Sauerland told Sky Sports. "We're pretty much sold out for this event and it is a big, big show in Germany.
"There were contractual and promotional problems before that stopped the fight. It is a tough game as it is without these issues, especially when a fighter is not going to be paid what he is promised.
"What it has done is given the fight a great build up and you have two great fighters on show, one two-time world champ and one fighter trying to become a two-time champion, both going toe-to-toe.
"The ingredients are certainly in place for this to live up to the billing."
Despite Braehmer being 37-years-old, Sauerland is confident that his charge can still perform at the highest standard and will be too much for Cleverly.
"Braehmer will show the world how good he is on Saturday. He is a very seasoned pro, an awkward, natural southpaw who has a great set of skills.
"He is a massive counter-puncher with a lot of power and accuracy and as an amateur he beat the likes of Ricky Hatton and Carl Froch. That just shows his level."
Watch Braehmer v Cleverly live on Sky Sports 2 this Saturday from 8pm.
